Write More Content, not just as a SEO practice
Everyone and their mom is writing SEO articles and blogs advising on the following:
- Keyword research, and keyphrases,
- Page ranks,
- Link building,
- Content writing,
- Site maps,
- Metatags, keywords, description, title,
- Submitting to directories,
- Doing SEO with a white or a black hat on,
- …and yes, blogging.
Phew! Well, actually every of the above issues is having its own importance. Some have lost much of their weight, some have gained and others remain constant.
It’s okay to do regular and detailed keywords/keyphrases research, to watch page ranks, to fine tune nice title tags, sometimes to submit to niche directories (more important than to general purpose ones), to make sure there’s a site map and that your web design is not bloated with code, not stuffing the bots with nonsense but still keeping it nice and user friendly for human users.
Then it became less important to build up links loaded pages, to exchange links or to manually submit to search engines. You can also (almost) forget about description and keywords metatags - just don’t dump ‘em entirely yet remember that Google bots pay no attention to these things.
What truly remains of higher value is the content you’re posting on your web site. So far you’re gonna write it well and often, wrapping with it the entire SEO brouhaha, your site’s gonna rock. Think that your site is sort of shop. Ask yourself what kinda shop clients prefer to walk and leave their money in. If you have such a shop in the real world you don’t need me to tell you how to keep it tidy, nice and welcoming. You know that a foggy den will attract a certain kind of people while a sunny spot appeals to a distinct set of affinities. Selling booze or ice cream appeals to two separate flocks.
Much of the real life rules are valid on the web, within your business site. Have your ebiz wrapped in an all black web site design and don’t wonder about the freaky stats. Try a clear white shiny site, with vivid colours, yet moderate not tiring the eye. Keep your ebiz web site within the common sense and the usual good humour you’re practicing every day. This is wherefrom you pick up inspiration to write some content, rants or blogs.
Be yourself and then use the SEO techniques to promote your biz.
